CR2032 Equivalent Batteries

CR2032 Equivalent Batteries

Nothing is more frustrating than trying to match the right battery to the right equipment. With the high number of battery manufacturers, each having their own equivalent for the same battery, consumers can easily become confused as to what they should be purchasing. Gadgets and Batteries has a list of CR2032 batteries and their equivalents.

As the CR2032 is one of the most commonly used batteries on the market, many equivalents exist and are available for purchase. Generic and small brand batteries are typically labeled simply as CR2032, as are some well-known brands, including Rayovac and Phillips. Other large manufacturers such as Energizer ECR2032, Maxell, Panasonic, and Sony offer a CR2032 and a BR2032, both of which are interchangeable. Duracell offers a DL2032 battery that is equivalent to the CR2032, with the only difference being that Duracell has chosen to change the name of the battery to differentiate itself from other brands available.

The main difference between the CR2032 and the BR2032 is that the CR2032 battery uses a manganese dioxide electrode, while the BR2032 battery employs a carbon monofluoride electrode. This small variation in the elctromechanical system of the battery does not affect performance and will usually allow either battery to function properly in most equipment.

CR2032 vs BR2032

As mentioned above, these two battery types are interchangeable and the most significant difference is that of operating temperature ranges. The CR2032 battery and BR2032 battery have the same dimensions.

The CR2032 has an operating temperature range of -4°F (-20°C) to 176°F (20°C)
The BR2032 has an operating temperature range of -22°F (-30°C) to 185°F (85°C)

The CR2032 battery has a typical capacity of 225mAh compared to the BRCR2032 batteries 190mAh.

The key to finding an equivalent to any CR2032 battery is that the numbers 2032, which represent the dimensions of the battery, are present at the end of the label. The beginning letters, whether they are CR, BR, DL, or any other combination, do not affect the compatibility or performance of the battery. For further clarification, CR2032 cross reference guides can be easily found on the internet and directly from the battery manufacturers.
